This summer, we’ve seen quite a few larger fires at our destinations. At Sunweb Group, we make sure we look after our guests and our partners during difficult times.

The wildfires in Rhodes were widely reported, and some of our customers and partners were unfortunately affected, besides of course the immense damage to nature and the island’s economy. We made sure our Sunweb customers were evacuated and repatriated, and future bookings were amended where needed.

We also saw fires break out in mainland Europe, and on Tenerife, where thankfully none of our guests had to be evacuated as the fires affected the arid highlands on the island. We continue to keep a close eye on fire warnings across our destinations and will work with you, our valued partners, to deal with any fire event.

I want to extend a big thank you to our partners and Sunweb’s destination guides, as well as our many colleagues at home for their efforts in ensuring our guests had a wonderful holiday experience.
